Welcome to The Watermelon House. So named for it's green siding with a red door, this cozy house nestled in a quiet street at the base of the foothills hospital is only a 5 minute walk to the hospital. We have three bedrooms ready for you to enjoy. Two bedrooms are available on a monthly or yearly lease while the third is specially reserved for visitors who would like to stay between three - ten days (or more!) All of our rooms have unique keys for the doors, but we encourage a sense of camaraderie among all of our guests. Because of its ideal location next to the hospital our short term stay room is ideal for nurses or doctors who do not want to commute to and from work on those long shifts. They save the money they would spend on parking at the hospital and walk instead plus they save the time of driving back and forth from work - just to go home and sleep. It is also an ideal location for visiting medical students or doctors. In terms of location it is very hard to beat The Watermelon House. It is close to the Foothills hospital, the Childrens' hospital, and the U of C. It is also walking distance to the beautiful bow river and several of Calgary's best coffee shops and diners. The Watermelon House is clean, spacious, quiet and each room has lots of natural light. There kitchen, bathroom, and sitting room are common. We also offer a large, lockable storage space for our short-term guests who would like to leave key items (bedding, pillows, work clothes etc.) behind until they return for their next visit. There are no pets allowed in the suite so you can rest easy knowing your shoes will not get eaten and your allergies will not be aggravated.
